​MOLDOVAN WINE TASTING HELD IN NEW YORK

The delegation of Moldovan winemakers is in visit to New York with the aim to promote the national brand Wine of Moldova. On Tuesday, two specialized tastings of Moldovan wines are being held there.

According to the National Office for Wine and Vine, which is the organizer of the event in partnership with the USAID CEED II [Competitiveness Enhancement and Enterprise Development Project], with the assistance of the program The Special American Business Internship Training (SABIT) of the US Government, after tastings Moldovan winemakers are going to meet potential business partners – importers, distributors.

According to the Wine and Vine Office Director Dumitru Munteanu, the New York meetings will serve as an efficient platform for promoting Moldovan wines, given the fact that American consumers are not familiar with these yet.

“The events met our expectations and support the commercial ambitions of Moldovan winemakers, who can acquire new business partners, as well as benefit of new opportunities for extending their exports. These events is a part of our Marketing Program, aimed at making the Wine of Moldova a symbol of quality and a recognizable brand on the international level”, he said.

In New York, Moldovan wines will be presented by the tandem World Wie Guys – Mike DeSimone and Jeff Jensen. The collection consists of 50 wines, including those sparkling, selected by the American specialists.

Organizers are expecting that the event will be visited by over 150 guests – managers of companies, journalists, sommeliers and representatives of winemaking industry, who expressed their interest in Moldovan wines.

Infotag’s dossier: The National Office for Wine and Vine is a state institution, created on the basis of public-private partnership for diversifying sales markets and promoting Moldovan wines by means of the national winemaking program “Wine of Moldova: A legend Alive”.

The USA is one of five major consumers of Moldovan wine after Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia. In 2014, wines worth US$14.4 million were supplied to the US against US$14.3 million a year earlier.
