​MOLDOVANS ASK NASA TO NAME ONE OF RECENTLY DISCOVERED PLANETS IN HONOR OF THEIR COUNTRY

Moldovan citizens started raising signatures for addressing to the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) with a demand to give to one of planets, recently discovered in TRAPPIST-1 planetary system, the name in honor of the Republic of Moldova. One can sign the petition on the website www.change.org.

The petition says that Moldova is a small country in the very heart of Europe and it is almost unknown in the world, just as planets in the TRAPPIST-1 system.

“For us this is a great opportunity to tell to the world that we exist, that wonderful people are living in our country, while in our hearts we have a shining sun and oceans of quality wine”, the text of petition says.

The petition has almost raised the necessary number of signatures – 1 thousand. After the completion of signature raising, the petition will be sent to NASA.

Infotag’s dossier: On Wednesday, NASA astronomers found seven new planets in the TRAPPIST-1 system, which means that water in liquid form may exist on these planets.
