​CHILDREN’S FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP EURO 2017 STARTS IN MOLDOVA ON MAY 14

The Children’s Football Championship EURO 2017 will take place for the sixth time in Moldova on May 14-21. It is traditionally organized by the children center “Don Bosco” in cooperation with embassies of Hungary, Poland and Italy to Moldova.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Moldova Matyas Szilagyi said at the Thursday’s press conference that the goal of this event is to support children from disadvantaged families and to promote active lifestyle.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Moldova Artur Michalski said that the initiative was launched in 2012, when the European Football Championship was conducted in Poland and Ukraine, and expressed satisfaction with the fact that this tournament became traditional.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Moldova Valeria Biagiotti said that she is glad about continuation of cooperation at tournament organizing and hopes to see a fair competition.

Don Bosco Center representative said that the event has rather an educational character than a competitive one. This year, the focus will be put namely on observing of a fair play, thus, those who will take the first place, but will have a bad behavior, will not get prize. Professional arbiters of Moldova Football Federation will be refereeing the games.

Around 150 children aged between 9 and 17, who are not professionally playing football, will participate in he event. The championship will gather 18 teams in three age categories.

Teams, who will take prize-winning places in each category, will get cups. Also, special prizes for abiding the rules of fair play and for best striker. The Tournament will conclude with the awarding ceremony, after which a meal with national dishes of Hungary, Poland and Italy will be prepared for all the participants.

Infotag’s dossier: The championship gathers children from disadvantaged families from different cities of Moldova, who are amateur football players. As well as in previous years, children teams will participate under flags and in uniform of European football teams.
