5TH FESTIVAL OF NATIONAL TRADITIONS IA MANIA 2017 TO BE HELD ON THE DNIESTER

Festival of national traditions IA MANIA will be held for the fifth time on July 8 in the village of Holercani, the Dubasari Raion. The motto of the festival is - “Discover hospitality of Dubasari”.

Organizer of the festival Nata Albot reported at a press conference that the purpose of the event is to preserve and promote national traditions.

“The event is dedicated to the national embroidered shirt “Ia”, which is the symbol of culture of the Moldovan people. Our shirt is one of the most beautiful and unusual cloth in the world; it is our pride, so we have to develop people’s activity and promote national culture. The festival will be held in a fair fashion and national gastronomy”, she said.

According to Albot, the festival takes place in Transnistria, in order to demonstrate that we are one.

“We do not divide the country into regions, autonomy and republic. Moldova is a multiethnic country and we do not want conflicts; we believe that the richness of our culture can unite and inspire us at least on the occasion of national traditions. The Dubasari Raion is a very welcoming and rich in historic places. The festival will be attended by more than 12 villages of the raion”, she added.

The event will begin with a parade of national costumes. Organizers said that more than 120 artisans and craftsmen will present their handmade works at the festival. Guests will be able to participate in master-classes and try culinary masterpieces of the Dubasari housewives. About 300kg of mamaliga will be prepared at the festival for the first time.

Visitors will see a photo exhibition of people’s shirts and exhibition of costumes, jewelry and carpets. Young designer will present collections of folk costumes in the contest “Pride”, and will receive 5 thousand lei for the participation in it and gifts from the event organizers. Folk groups and artists will perform at the festival.
