MOLDOVA LEADERSHIP LAY FLOWERS TO BUST OF MIHAI EMINESCU

President Igor Dodon, Members of the Moldovan Parliament and Government have laid flowers to the bust of outstanding poet Mihai Eminescu on the occasion of the 168th birthday anniversary of the classic. Since 2013, the date of January 15 has been marked in Moldova also as the Day of National Culture.

President Dodon wrote on his Facebook page afterwards that Mihai Eminescu’s cultural heritage has not lost its topicality until now, remaining valuable for the nation irrespective of time.

Parliament Chairman Andrian Candu wrote in the social networks that Eminescu cultivated and modernized the Romanian language.

“As genuine successors of this beautiful language, we must speak it correctly, revere and develop it because it determines us. Each of us must ensure that subsequent generations preserve the heritage left to us by Mihai Eminescu”, wrote the Parliament Chairman.

Flowers to the bust of Mihai Eminescu in the Alley of the Classics in the Chisinau central public garden were laid also by parliamentarians from the Liberal Party. LP leader Mihai Ghimpu stated: “Eminescu is the heart and brain of not only the Romanian people but also of all other people”.

Today the place was visited also by the representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party, the Party of Action and Solidarity, of various pro-Romania unionist organizations, Government Members. The flower laying was organized in a way to avoid the meeting of the President and the parliamentarians in the Alley of the Classics. Since early morning and until the lunchtime, the Chisinau central park was patrolled heavily and video-recorded by the police.
