EUROPEAN MUSEUM NIGHT TO BE HELD IN MOLDOVA ON SATURDAY

A whole range of events will be conducted in Chisinau on Saturday on the occasion of the International Museum Day. All activities, including the European Museum Night, are organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sciences.

According to the National Museum of Fine Arts administration, the event is aimed at opening the cultural offer of museums and public organizations to the society.

“The Arts Museum will for the first time present an exhibition of interactive arts and virtual reality. The admission to the museum will be free, moreover it will be working till late night. Moldovan singer Geta Burlacu, students of Sergey Rakhmaninov Lyceum of Chisinau and the Select Strings Quartet si Pasione will perform at a concert, timed to the event. The youngest fans of history and museology will have the possibility to demonstrate their talents within an art workshop”, said museum representative Natalia Popovici.

The National Museum of History prepared an exhibition of old cars and motorcycles. Also, documentary films of the Cronograf International Film Festival will be screened in the museum, as well as an intellectual game “Watch, Understand, Act” will be organized. The events will culminate with a flashmob “Museum is in My Heart”.

The National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History is going to surprise its visitors by a cultural program of crafts and folklore music. Here, exhibitions of folk instruments, wedding dresses will take place, as well as a fashion show of national costumes will take place, accompanied by Stefan-Voda, Paparuda, Ghermancio, Valence folk collectives. Also, the museum prepared a solemn opening of the restored Bernardazzi pavilion.

Children will have the possibility to participate in contests about nature and in assembling jigsaw puzzles. Workshops on manufacturing national jewelries, ceramic crockery and artistic wood working will be organized in the museum courtyard. The admission to all Chisinau museums is free on May 19.

Besides, an outstanding performance is prepared in the Soroca Fortress. The audience will be presented a theatrical show with over 100 actors and 40 dancers, as well as many other surprises.

Infotag’s dossier: The Museum Night is conducted in European countries on the occasion of the International Museum Day. The latter was initiated by the Ministry of Culture of France and the international museum community on May 18, 1977. In Moldova, the Museum Day will take place for the 14th time. The republic has six national museums with 12 branch offices, in which over 800 thousand precious exhibits are stored.
