FRANCE HELPS MOLDOVA TO PROMOTE NATIONAL CULTURAL HERITAGE

21 may, 2018

Head of the National Agency for Monument Inspecting and Restoring Ion Stefanita met with representatives of French delegation to Moldova on Monday and discussed the projects on promoting Moldovan cultural heritage.

At a press conference after the meeting, he said that a Moldovan-French project “Common Heritage, Common Goals” was launched in 2016, which implied that the Moldova’s historical and cultural heritage will be promoted following the example of France, which is developing various creative methods for attracting tourists.

“It is not enough to just rehabilitate a cultural object, it should be correctly revived. This is why we thought that on the basis of the project on restoring the Soroca Fortress, launched in 2012, we will keep renewing and promote this tourist place, while then we will extend the project all across the country”, he said.

One of delegation members Francois Bonn said that France is interested in cooperation with Moldova as both countries want to attract tourists to cultural historical places they have never been to.

“In 1990 we focused on developing the policy of preserving and valorization of heritage and we did our best for this. Our current goal is to show to the youth which is the value of cultural historical objects and how interesting they are”. He said.

According to another guest Marc Badel, two guidebooks through Soroca raion will be issued: one in Romanian and Russian, the other – in English and French.

“We are at the concluding stage and soon everyone will have the possibility to find out the attractions we can visit in Soroca raion, while then we will concentrate on creation of 3D models of all the cultural or historical objects in order that visitors to be able to completely plunge into the past of one or another object”, he said.
