CHISINAU-ARENA TO BE BUILT BY TURKISH COMPANY

16 july, 2018

The multifunctional sport and cultural complex “Chisinau-Arena” will be built by a Turkish company “Summa”, announced Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici. He reminded that almost 70 ha of land in the Chisinau suburb was allocated for the building, 10 ha of which are designed for the very arena.

“This project is important not only for Chisinau, but also for the entire country. It will give an impulse to the development of tourism in Moldova. The preparation is conducted in full completion with the plan. Out of 44 actions, planned by the working group, 33 (75%) have already been fulfilled. The building will start in August and will take around a year. The works on stubbing the trees in the place of the future complex will start already on Monday”, Gaburici said.

According to Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc, the “Summa” company was the single competitor for projecting and building works.

“The commission analyzed its proposal and decided that the company meets all state requirements. The “Summa” has a great experience in projecting and building, including sport complexes. It is working in Moldova for already around 20 years, knows the specificity of the market and by means of the implemented projects it proved it is quality and professional”, the minister said.

As Infotag has already reported, the idea to build the Chisinau-Arena came from Speaker of the Parliament Andrian Candu in March, who said that the project was developed by the DP [where he is deputy chairman] and the Government has just to adopt corresponding decrees and announce an international tender for seeking the company that will undertake to build the arena and will cover most of expenditures.

He said that the cost of the object will account for 30-50 million euros, while the state share is of 100 million lei (4.8 million euros), provided in the 2018 state budget.

According to him, the arena has to have 3.5-5 thousand seats, moveable platforms for various sport and cultural events, as well as a parking with the capacity of 1.2 thousand cars, an Olympic pool, tennis grounds, SPA and fitness facilities.

Infotag’s dossier: The “Summa” has built the Radisson Blu Leogrand Hotel Chisinau, the Medpark medical center, the MallDova shopping and recreation center, the Crown Plaza resident complex, the Green Hills supermarket, as well as repaired the Republican Clinical Hospital and the Chisinau Airport.
