CHISINAU TO HOST YOUTH FESTIVAL SATURDAY

10 august, 2018

A youth festival on the occasion of the International Youth Day will be held in Chisinau on August 11.

The festival is organized by the National Youth Council in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, the UNICEF Moldova, and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in the Eugen Doga street, the only one pedestrian street in Chisinau.

According to the Council representative Rodica Ciobanu, the theme of the festival is “Safe space for young people”, as in the whole world.

“Safe space, whether it is civil, public, digital or physical, is necessary for young people to feel part of the society”, she said.

According to her, the street will be divided into 10 zones, where 40 youth organizations will present their opportunities through interactive activities. 20 masters will demonstrate their handmade products; furthermore, discussions will be held on the problems faced by the city and their impact on young people. The visitors will also be able to visit a photo exhibition, showing “a young man’s life”.

“The discussions participants will identify problems and opportunities for the problem solving; new programs and services for young people will be presented. The event will be supported by a number of Moldovan artists, and a gastronomic zone will be organized for gourmets”, said Ciobanu.
At the same time, the festival will become a platform for the support of Chisinau’s candidacy for the title of “European youth capital” in 2021.
