EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS TO BE HELD ALL ACROSS MOLDOVA

The European Heritage Days (EHD) will be held on September 24 through 28 in 64 localities of 20 raions of Moldova, announced Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc.

“I am glad that with each coming year the EHD are celebrated with increasingly greater cultural activities, which attract guests both to Chisinau and other areas. This is a proof that people know their past and want a European future”, the official stressed.

According to her, this year the events will be held under the slogan “Our heritage: where the past meets the future” and invites the large public to learn about the European history.

“The event includes a number of events such as: photo and documentary exhibitions, roundtables, movies, activities for children and adults, handicraft and cuisine workshops, excursions to monuments of national and local importance; parks, grottos, museums, memorial houses, churches, natural parks, libraries”, Babuc said.

The EHD is an initiative of the Council of Europe, which were for the first time organized in France in 1985. These are marked in 50 countries, which signed the European Cultural Convention (1954). Annually, over 70 thousand events are organized in these countries and attended by 20 million people to raise public awareness about panEuropean heritage and to encourage people to actively participate in protecting and strengthening the cultural heritage for future generations.
