GRAND PRIX IN WINEMAKING TO BE AWARDED TO SALCUTA COMPANY

The Salcuta company from the name-sake village in the Stefan-Voda raion was declared winner of the 2018 Grand Prix in the field of winemaking.

A corresponding decision was taken by the Government at the proposal of a special working commission, created by the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment.

The prize in the form of a gilded statuette of a flying stork with a bunch of grapes in the beak - the symbol of Moldovan winemaking - will be handed over to the company this weekend in the Chisinau Main Square within the marking of the National Wine Day.

The prize was awarded for special achievements in the field of high quality wines, the preserving of traditions of domestic winemaking, the promotion of the republic's image as a winemaking country and the contribution in development of wine tourism in Moldova.

The "Salcuta" enterprise, founded in 1995 on the basis of an old winery in the Salcuta village is today one of the most important producers of quality wines in Moldova, member of the winegrowing-winemaking Association of Stefan-Voda region with Protected Geographical Indications.

Over two decades of activity, Salcuta achieved considerable successes in raising the quality of the produced wines and in their promotion to new consumer markets. The company's wines are successfully sold in Germany, Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, in Baltic countries, in Japan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and even in the countries of Africa. The enterprise is investing in planting of new vineyards, technical re-equipment of production capacities, wine tourism development.

Currently, Salcuta is holding over 250 ha of vineyards and is producing various wines in such series as Eno, "Wine Road", "Rombik", Modern, Inima, "Magic Grape".

Only in 2017 the company wines were awarded 10 medals at various national and international contests.
