MOLDOVAN WINES PRESENTED IN FRANCE

25 octomber, 2018

Over 20 Moldovan winemaking companies presented their wines at a joint stand at the exhibition Salon Food & Spirits, organized by the "Sommeliers International" Magazine in Bordeaux.

According to the National Vine and Wine Office (NVWO), which provided assistance to Moldovan enterprises in participation in the exhibition, the event gathered 59 participants from all around the world.

"The presence of the brand "Wine of Moldova. A Legend Alive" at the event, conducted in one of world's most important winemaking regions, cannot be overemphasized. We participated in the exhibition with wines, created in zones, where the climate is almost identical to the Bordeaux climate. I am sure that the tasting of Moldovan wines became at least an interesting experience for French wine connoisseurs", said NVWO Director Grigore Arpentin.

According to him, the Moldovan wines got the highest estimates at the exhibition within the contest Inside Spirits Competition, also organized by the Sommeliers International. After tasting and discussion, jury gave awards to 14 Moldovan producers. Thus, the country wine brand portfolio got two golden medals, eight silver and five bronze medals.

During the exhibition, Arpentin met with one of the most well-known sommeliers - Nelson Chow, who is also President of the Hong Kong and China Sommelier Association. The dialog culminated with the tasting of several varieties of Moldovan wines.

"The wine of Moldova is of high quality and preserves the original color of local grape varieties. This ensures to Moldovan wines a great popularity in China. In order that the Moldovan wine to become even more demanded on one of the world's largest markets, activities should be organized for raising the local consumers' awareness", the Chinese expert said.

The agreement on cooperation at the Chinese market was achieved, where Moldovan winemaking companies are actively participating in largest exhibitions and fairs. Nelson Chow is planning to visit Chisinau in April 2019 to deepen his knowledge about Moldovan wines.
