MOLDOVAN WRESTLER WINS EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Moldova’s 2018 Best athlete in Greco-Roman wrestling in weight category under 60 kg Victor Ciobanu became European champion 2019. In the final fight Cebanu defeated Sergey Emelin from Russia with a score of 5:5. Before, wrestler Petru Ianulov (under 86 kg) won silver, while Moldova’s Best Woman Athlete 2018 according to the National Olympic and Sport Committee Anastasia Nichita (under 57 kg) won bronze in woman wrestling. The European Championship 2019, held in Bucharest, gathered 500 wrestlers from 38 countries. In terms of the number of medals won, Moldova shared the 6th place with Italy.
