POLISH EMBASSY TO KEEP RECONSTRUCTING GRAVESTONES OF COMPATRIOTS IN CHISINAU

Two more objects will be restored this year within the project on reconstructing and restoring gravestones on tombs of Polish people, buried in the territory of Catholic cemetery in Chisinau.

On Wednesday, Chisinau Primaria leadership met with representatives of Poland and discussed the details of work.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Moldova Bartolomiej Zdaniuk said that the restoration of tombs of two Poles who lived in Chisinau in late 19th – early 20th century, will be conducted in August by a special team.

He reminded that the project is implemented by the embassy in cooperation with the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Chisinau Primaria for already 5 years. According to him, over this time, several gravestones were reconstructed with the financial and intellectual support of specialists from Poland.

In total, over 50 gravestones will be rehabilitated.
