GOVERNMENT APPROVES PREMIUMS FOR MEDALISTS OF EUROPEAN GAMES

The Government approved the sums of monetary prizes for Moldovan athletes who won medals at European Games in Minsk on June 21-30.

Golden medalists will receive 220 thousand lei (US$12.5 thousand), silver – 160 thousand lei, bronze – 120 thousand lei. For the first time athletes who took 4th and 5th places will also get premiums – 50 thousand lei and 30 thousand lei, respectively. Besides, athletes’ coaches will also be awarded.

The 2019 European Games gathered around 4 thousand athletes from 50 countries. Moldova was represented by 50 athletes in 10 disciplines, among which swimming, wrestling, judo, sambo, badminton, rowing, cycling, table tennis, archery and sport shooting.

Moldovan athletes won a silver medal – Sabina Artemciuc (sambo) and 4 bronze medals – Denis Tachi (sambo), Paulina Esanu (sambo), Victor Ciobanu (Greco-Roman wrestling), Anastasia Nichita (woman wrestling).
