MOLDOVAN ATHLETE MAXIM RAILEANU WINS HALF-MARATHON IN ZAGREB

Moldovan athlete Maxim Raileanu (coaches Lazar Povestca and Roman Prodius) won the half marathon race in Zagreb (Croatia) the day before, running over 21 km in 1 hour 5 minutes and 57 seconds. Thus, he became the winner of the 2020 Balkan Championship at this distance. Another representative of Moldova, Mihail Bezniuc (coach Nicolai Serpul), finished fifth with a score of 1: 07.49. In the team competition in this track-and-field discipline, the Moldovan national team became the second, slightly losing to the Turkish team, and leaving the athletes from Romania at the third place. “For the first place, Railean was awarded with a gold medal, an honorary diploma and a cash prize. Maxim is a candidate for winning a ticket to participate in the Summer Olympic Games. The next qualifying stage for the trip to Tokyo (Japan) will be the start in the same discipline at the World Championships on October 17 in Gdynia (Poland). For the second place the team of Moldova was awarded with a commemorative cup and an honorary diploma,” President of the Moldovan Athletics Federation Anatolii Balan said.
