ANRE PUSHES UP HEATING TARIFF BY 8.2% FROM OCTOBER 1
On Friday, the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) decided to raise the tariff on centralized heating by 8.2% – up to 1,068 lei per a gigacalorie – from this October 1 because the current tariff was set yet in 2011. Since then, natural gas has become 16.4% more expensive.
Termoelectrica Director Veaceslav Eni, who had demanded a higher tariff for so long and who presented the substantiation for it, stated at the ANRE meeting that the energy enterprise badly needs a new fair tariff.
“We vitally need to modernize our heating distribution network. With a new, up-to-date network, we can reduce heating transportation losses by far”, said the enterprise director.
The previous ANRE Director, Victor Parlicov, offered a supposition that the new tariff will have to be pushed up once again soon because it is yet necessary to introduce a new tariff on electricity: the entire centralized heating system works on electric power.
Besides Parlicov, many other energy experts were surprised with such a “separate” decision. They maintain that it is pointless to consider the rates on heating and on electricity separately because these two are so closely interconnected.
