​ROMANIA TO PROVIDE 550 THOUSAND EUROS FOR FINANCING UNGHENI-CHISINAU GAS PIPELINE DESIGNING

The Romanian Government will provide to Moldova 550 thousand euros in the form of gratuitous financing for developing engineering design of building the Ungheni-Chisinau natural gas pipeline. This is provided in the Cooperation Program 2016, approved by the Moldovan Government on Wednesday night.

The project is aimed at developing the energy infrastructure and providing an alternative source of natural gas to Moldova. The sum of 550 thousand euros will be allocated on the basis of an agreement, signed in Bucharest in April 2010 within the framework of the gratuitous financial assistance to Moldova worth 100 million euros.

The building of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline is the second stage of building the gas pipeline, which connects the gas transporting systems of the two countries.
