RE-EXPORTS EXCEED 35.5% IN MOLDOVA’S TRADE VOLUME

Moldovan exports accounted for US$1,633 million as of the beginning of November, falling 0.2% in comparison to the equivalent period of 2015. However, the exported volumes of domestic products fell 2.2% – to US$1,053 million, while re-exports grew 3.8% - to US$580 million.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), 64.1% of supplying abroad accounted for European Union countries - US$1,064 million (+3.1%). While exports to CIS countries fell 17.4% over a year – to US$343.4 million.

The export structure is prevailed by industrial goods – 24% (+2.1%), food products – 23.6% (-1.1%), machinery and equipment for transport – 16.3% (+0.1%).

The largest consumers of Moldovan exports are Romania - US$409.2 million (one-fourth of the total exports), Russia - US$194.6 million and Italy (US$161.5 million).

Imports to Moldova fell 0.7% - to US$3,276 million. More than one-half of it came from the EU - US$1,625 million. The CIS share in imports fell to 25.3% – US$828 million.

Trade balance deficit of the Republic of Moldova fell 1.2%, accounting for US$1,642 million as of November 1. Exports covered imports by 49.95 against 49.6% a year ago.
