24 february, 2017

Nobody knows what reserves the Termoelectrica state enterprise has to cover the debt of 2.8 billion lei to JSC “Moldova-Gaz” for 15-20 years, said expert of the Center for analysis, supervision and protection in energy (ASPE), economist Sergiu Tofilat.

According to him, the company, perhaps, will try to optimize internal processes and costs, but then a question arises, why it wasn’t done earlier.

He admits that Termoelectrica tries to recover money from their debtors, primarily from the housing sector having a debt of about 600 housing maintenance offices. Their debt is about 600 million lei.

“I also know that negotiations are held with the World Bank as a guarantor of Termoelectrica debt return to “Moldova-gaz”, said the expert.

Deputy Minister of Economy Valeriu Triboi reported that the Moldovan side has an agreement with Gazprom, according to which the memorandum with Termoelectrica will be signed for 15-20 years and the debt will be paid within 20 years.

Infotag’s dossier: The historic debt was accumulated before the Termocom hot-water/heating distribution company joined with CET 1[heating/electric power plant] and CET 2. The debt is 2.8 billion lei. In 2016, Termoelectrica managed to stop the growth of the debt.
