29 march, 2017

Moldovan winemakers have successfully presented domestic goods under the general brand Wine of Moldova at exhibitions ProWein in Germany and China Food and Drink Fair 2017 in China.

Their participation in exhibitions was organized by the National Vine and Wine Office (NVWO) with financial assistance of strategic partners from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Swedish Government.

At the Tuesday’s press conference, the NVWO Director Gheorghe Arpentin said that the ProWein is one of the most important European exhibitions.

“Moldovan winemakers are for already the fourth consecutive year participating in it under the brand Wine of Moldova. This time, Moldovan brand achievements were presented by means of innovative methods of promotion – international experts’ workshops”, he said.

USAID Moldova Competitiveness Project Deputy Director Diana Lazar said that over three years the main short-term goals have been achieved: Moldova is positioning itself at the international level under the common brand of quality wines.

“USAID and the Swedish Government are strategic partners of the Moldovan winemaking sector. On the basis of two exhibition results we can say that Moldovan wines are received by professionals as competitive wines from the point of view of quality and price. Wines with geographical indications confirmed the high quality”, she said.

Since January 2017, the brand Wine of Moldova is used for wines, which pass the quality control.

Director of the Castel Mimi winery Cristina Frolov said that the participation in exhibitions is a great experience and a great opportunity to get acquainted with new trends, establish new contacts.

“We were visited by partners from Canada and the USA. We held negotiations with perspective partners from Japan and China. It is pleasant to witness people coming and seeking Moldovan wines”, she said.
