MOLDOVAN PRIME MINISTER DEMANDS TO INTRODUCE ORDER IN TAXI SERVICE

27 april, 2017

Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip reported at the Wednesday’s session of the Government about the necessity of introducing order in the taxi services.

He drew attention to the situation at the Chisinau international airport during the last week’s snowfall and to the actions of the taxi drivers.

“The airport was at a standstill because of the snowfall, many flights were canceled. People could not return back to the city because of the raised prices on taxi up to 300-500 lei; many people had no money to pay for the taxi”, reminded Filip.

Prime Minister gave an example of the Bucharest airport, where electronic racks for taxi were established. He called on the Chisinau airport administration to modernize the public transport system.

Nevertheless, Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Finance to submit concrete proposals to bring taxi services to the legal regulations.

He pointed to the necessity of strict adherence to rules regarding licensing and use of cash registers, as well as for technical inspections of cars and mandatory testing of drivers before an exit to a route.
