BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IN NORTHERN MOLDOVA WILL RAISE INVESTMENTS INTO REGION – ADR NORD

26 may, 2017

The program of developing business infrastructure in the north of Moldova will raise investments in the region, maintains Director of the Northern Regional Development Agency Ion Bodrug.

At the Thursday’s public consultations in Balti, he said that this strategic document, in case of his appointment by the Council for Regional Development, will become an important support for entrepreneurship development in the northern region.

Representatives of the Ministry of Construction and Regional Development (MoC) Dorin Andros proposed to activate efforts for economic development, in which projects on improving business climate have one of the most important roles.

The implementation of projects is designed for 5 years until 2022. It is directed to preparation and implementation of projects on business infrastructure development, creation of a reliable platform for dialog and cooperation with local and foreign development partners, as well as facilitating the adoption of decisions on attracting financial and human resources and creation of new jobs.

The implementation of the program is based on the SWOT analysis (establishing of strong and weak points of economic and social sides of the region), supported by national and local experts. Among the pluses of the region there are: presence of free economic zones, industrial parks and business incubators, as well as growth of investments in production enterprises. A minus is weak development of entrepreneurship in rural areas.

The main projects in business infrastructure development are – improvement of infrastructure in Raut and Edinet industrial parks, creation and development of wholesale market in Riscani, founding of an innovation center in Balti and of a creative center in Otaci. These projects will be financed directly from the National Regional Development Fund. It is planned to allocate 98.9 million lei for their implementation.

Also, the program implies the continuation of beekeeping sector development in Edinet Raion, which is already financed by the Romanian Government. The sum of external support will account for 3.7 million lei.

The final decision on approving the Program for developing business infrastructure in the northern region will be taken at the meeting of the Council for Regional Development on June 9.
