PREMIER STANDS FOR DEVELOPING ELECTRONIC TRADE

Prime Minister Pavel Filip spoke for developing of electronic trade in Moldova at the Thursday’s opening ceremony of the forum, dedicated to electronic trade development.

“We have all the prerequisites for a good development of electronic trade. Moldova has broadband access to Internet, a well developed infrastructure and a good basis for training IT specialists. Our specialists in the field of IT are among the best in the world, are working in different countries, Moldova is in top 5 world countries in terms of quality and access to Internet. In such conditions we are obliged to develop electronic trade”, the Premier said.

According to him, the Government will adopt necessary measures for developing this type of services, which, besides all, is a good business.

“People do not have time to go to open-air market or to the shop, they already get used to do shopping on online platforms and producers should take care of all aspects in this concern. In its turn, the Government will contribute to removing obstacles to electronic trade development”, Filip said.

He said that at the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers a number of amendments to the Law on electronic trade were introduced for adapting it to today’s needs. Besides, the activation of the information technology sector is ensured by provisions of the National Strategy “Digital Moldova 2020” and the Law on IT parks.

According to the National Bank of Moldova, there were 1.46 million bank cards in Moldova as of September 2016. Over two years, their number grew by 200 thousand. With all this, card owners are using it mostly for withdrawing cash money. Thus, in Q32016 citizens withdrew more than 9.3 billion lei from bank cards, while electronic payments via cards accounted for less than 800 million lei.
