MOLDOVAN AND TRANSNISTRIAN ENTREPRENEURS SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED TO COOPERATE – FRENCH AMBASSADOR
Entrepreneurs of Moldova and Transnistria should develop close cooperation and be driven by economic pragmatism, but not geopolitics, maintains Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Moldova, Honorary Chairman of the France-Moldova Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFM) Pascal Vagogne.
He said at the Friday’s press conference on the occasion of completion of the project “Marketing Research on both sides of the Dniester River” that the CCIFM intends to establish connections between business circles of Moldova and Transnistria from both banks of the Dniester River, while the project is directed on rapprochement in business environment and separation of business from policy.
According to him, business connections are very strong and these should be permanently developed to maximally implement the economic potential.
“Entrepreneurs from both sides of the river have the same goal – to develop business and they have desire to cooperate with each other. Such cooperation became even more actual after concluding the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, which opens great possibilities for exporting to the large European market”, the diplomat said.
Advisor on Trade Issues of the EU Delegation to Moldova Vasile Plamadeala said that the EU has supported and will keep supporting the development of businesses in Moldova beyond political aspects.
“Since 2009, more than 200 projects have been implemented with the EU support, which are directed to improving the people’s living standards on both sides of the Dniester River, around 2 thousand jobs were created. Such measures will help developing Moldova’s economy, attract investment and raise the volume of Moldovan goods’ exports”, he maintains.
Head of the Transnistrian chamber of commerce and industry Vladimir Isaev said that the research, conducted within the project, will allow business community and all the interested sides to get information about consumption potential and the quality of the provided services on both sides of the Dniester River.
According to him, this is especially useful for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which do not have funds for forming their own analytical divisions. The cooperation between the Transnistrian CCI and the CCIFM will considerably consolidate connections between businesses and will ensure the interested entrepreneurs with detailed information about sales markets in the EU.
The project was implemented by experts from the CCIFM, Transnistria and the Moldovan “Magenta Consulting” agency within the fourth stage of the UNDP Program of Support to Confidence Building Measures.
