MOLDOVAN PRESIDENT AND ROSPOTREBNADZOR HEAD DISCUSS EXPORTS TO RUSSIA

President of Moldova Igor Dodon and Head of the RosPotrebNadzor [Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being] Anna Popova discussed exports of Moldovan goods to Russia. The head of the state wrote on his Facebook page that they touched upon the issues, connected with exports of food to the Russian market, canceling of customs duties on certain categories of goods, extending the list of fruit exporters.

Igor Dodon wrote that according to the results of agreements with Russian President Vladimir Putin, exports of Moldovan fruit and vegetables to the Russian market has considerably grown: on some exported items – almost 20-fold, apples – almost 3-fold, cherry – 1.4-fold, wine – 1.5-fold. Around 180 companies got the right to export their goods to the Russian market.

“We are interested in canceling the customs fees on 5 of 19 categories of goods, introduced in 2014. Their canceling will allow raising exports of goods from Moldova. Besides, I addressed with a demand to extend the list of Moldovan companies-producers of fruit and vegetables, wine, meat and canned food, who have the right to export to the Russian market. Currently, 13 winemaking companies and 3 canned food factories are under consideration”, Dodon wrote.

He thanked for canceling of the ban on fruit and vegetables’ transportation through Russian customs stations, which allowed customs registration of goods in any Russian checkpoint, empowered with the right to register such kind of produce.

“Besides, I pointed that the issue with access to the Russian market of Moldovan canned fruit and vegetables, wines, whose customs registration is conducted only in the Bryansk city customs station”, Dodon wrote.

“We keep working to facilitate access to the Russian market for Moldovan producers. All the discussed topics will also be included in the agenda of the meeting with Vladimir Putin, planned for next week in Sochi”, Dodon wrote.
