MOLDOVAN-AUSTRIAN BUSINESS FORUM OPENS IN VIENNA

A Moldovan-Austrian economic forum is being held in Vienna on Wednesday for presenting trade opportunities for investments and trade with Moldova to Austrian business circles.

According to the Economy Ministry, the forum will be attended by Moldovan Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Octavian Calmic, who will also hold a number of meetings with Austrian officials for discussing the development of trade and economic relations between Moldova and Austria, initiation of new bilateral investment projects and establishing of partnership relations between the companies of the two countries.

During discussions with the head of the "Advantage Austria Innovation", the process of implementing programs of assistance, provided to Moldova by the Austrian authorities, as well as discussed the possibility of launching new programs of assistance to the Moldovan Government for implementing reformation strategies and modernizing the national economy in different fields, especially in the field of developing infrastructure and agro-industrial complex.

The Moldova-Austria external trade accounted for US$61.24 million in January-July, growing 10% against the equivalent period of 2016. The Moldovan exports to Austria grew 44% - to US$17.92 million, while imports preserved almost at the last-year level, accounting for US$43.32 million.

There are 98 enterprises with Austrian capital in Moldova, the volume of investments in their authorized capital accounts for 563 million lei. Austria is Moldova's seventh largest investor.
