MOLDOVA WILL UNDERTAKE SLOVAK EXPERIENCE IN ORGANIC AGRICULTURE

18 octomber, 2017

A Moldova-Slovakia forum “Agriculture in 21st Century” was held in Chisinau on Tuesday.

Deputy Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ion Parea said that if in 2012 eco-farming was practiced by 185 economic agents in the republic, now their number fell to 130.

“Today, we are using too much herbicides and other chemicals in agriculture. We have to adopt organic methods, as the eco-friendly produce is very demanded in our days, besides it is much more expensive than the ordinary products”, he said.

Representative of the Slovak Embassy to Moldova Peter Tomasek said that the transition to organic agriculture is a great way to improve the situation in the branch, which is one of the most important in the Moldovan economy.

“Thus, we decided to share the experience of Slovak companies, which may be useful for Moldovan producers. Also, we invited guests from the Slovak ministry of agriculture for participation in this forum”, he explained.

During the forum, experts told about the ways of using organic methods in agriculture and the possibilities of getting financing, both in Moldova and outside it.

Infotag’s dossier: The eco-farming implies conscious minimization of using fertilizers, pesticides, regulators of plant growth and supplements. Instead of this, it is proposed to use animal and plant organic waste as fertilizers, as well as crop rotation for rehabilitating the soil fertility.
