ENERGY COMMUNITY SECRETARIAT AGAIN WARNS MOLDOVA ABOUT INCONSISTENCIES

Moldova did not fulfill Energy Community provisions and principles concerning electricity tariffs and the independence of regulatory body.

The Moldovan leadership received a letter from the Energy Community Secretariat after the consideration of the recently introduced amendment to the methodology of calculating tariffs on electricity distribution.

Letter authors explained that the goal of this initial step is to give to Moldova the possibility to react on appointment about failure to fulfill the legislation on Energy Community, while the Secretariat – to establish complete factual and legal basis of the case.

According to articles #7 and #17 of the Rules on the procedure of conflict settlement, the interested sides may be provided access to case materials and written comments on this.

This is the second Energy Community Secretariat’s letter to Moldovan authorities over the last time. The first letter, received in late October, said about the need to harmonize Moldovan internal legislation in accordance with EU directive on building energy efficiency.
