20 november, 2017

Moldovan farmers and Polish entrepreneurs concluded a contract on raising grape exports to Poland within the business forum, which concluded in Bronisze.

According to the USAID Moldova Agriculture Competitiveness Project (MAC-P), the contracts imply weekly supplying of 40 tons of grapes to Polish partners.

During three days of forum, Moldovan grape producers and exporters met with over 20 importers and representatives of Polish network shops, agreeing on conditions of grape supplying.

USAID marketing expert Lilian Cipciriuc said that the "Moldova" variety of grapes are very popular in Poland due to its specific taste, which is comparable with Italian varieties.

"In order to raise Moldovan grape exports, producers have to improve its aspect, uniformity and packaging. Also, Moldovan authorities have to enhance negotiations with the EU about raising of quotas", the expert said.

According to the USAID, in 2016 Moldova exported around 98 tons of grapes to Poland, while over 10 months of 2017 - 595 tons of grapes with average exported cost of US$0.87 per 1 kg.
