MOLDOVA SUPPORTS COOPERATION WITHIN INITIATIVE "ONE BELT-ONE ROAD"

Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip participates in the Tbilisi Belt and Road Forum 2017 in Georgia.

He said that the forum is a platform for discussing the development of economic cooperation, as well as international and regional trade.

"There is a whole number of initiatives, aimed at ensuring extending the cooperation between the countries, creation of transport corridors between them, as well as removing of bureaucratic obstacles between our countries are fundamental element of sustainable development of the region", Filip stressed.

He said that the initiative "One Belt, One Road" is one of the main goals in this context. The Premier said that in 2018, Moldova will be chairing the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM) and in this post Moldova will adopt all the possible efforts for developing and applying the concept of GUAM transport corridor and the implementation of the initiative in the "One Belt, One Road" economic development strategy.

Talking about reforms the Moldovan Government is implementing, the Prime Minister called on business people to invest in Moldova, adding that investors are provided with a number of privileges, as well as there are exports of goods both to the East and the West.

"Moldova concluded Free Trade Agreement with the CIS, Turkey and with the GUAM, as well as the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the EU, while this opens for the country a sales market with 880 million consumers", Filip said.

The forum in Tbilisi is attended by around 1 thousand representatives of over 50 countries and international organizations.
