INVESTMENTS IN LONG-TERM TANGIBLE ASSETS GREW 2.4% IN MOLDOVA

Investments in long-term tangible assets worth over 11,113 million lei (in comparable prices) were used by companies and organizations of all types of economic activity over nine months of 2017, which is 2.4% more than over the equivalent period of 2016.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), over one-third of all investments – 3,936 million (+7.7%) accounted for machinery, equipment and communication means. These pushed to the second place the investments in construction of housing, which fell 4.4% over a year – to 1,823 million.

An even bigger decline was registered in investments in building nonresidential facilities (9.7%) – to 1,774 million lei. However, the investments in engineering construction on contrary grew by more than one-fourth – to 1,771 million lei.

The main sources of investments remain funds of economic agents and population – 7.81 billion lei (share 70.3%). The second place is held by contributions of administrative territorial entities, due to the 25.4% growth – to 527 million lei. These pushed aside the foreign investments, which accounted for 525.8 million lei, falling 4% over a year.

Then come state budget investments, which, though grew 34.1%, reached just 472 million lei.
