STRUCTURAL REFORM PROGRAM LAUNCHED IN MOLDOVA BY USAID

On Tuesday the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) officially launched the Structural Reform Program. The program is aimed at supporting the further Moldova’s integration into regional and worldwide trade systems, enhancement of Moldova’s trade corridors.

Program Director Douglas Muir, who has been in Moldova 7 years ago, said that the republic has a great potential which with structural transformations and favorable business environment may lead to raising of trade and sustainable growth of economy.

“The country has a profitable geographic position, large market in the face of the European Union the republic has free trade regime with”, he said.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Moldova James D. Pettit said that with this new project, the United States is proud to support Moldova’s economic reformers.

“Since 1992, the US is helping Moldova strengthen its economic ties with Europe and meet the strict standards for European integration including fighting corruption, securing transparency and accountability of all state institutions”, the diplomat said.

Infotag’s dossier: The Structural Reform Program, implemented with USAID financial support, is designed for four years. Its budget accounts for US$11 million.
