ONLY THREE COMPANIES WILL PARTICIPATE IN GNF TENDER ON ELECTRICITY SUPPLYING

08 february, 2018

The Gas Natural Fenosa Moldova group will have to choose electricity suppliers for the period of April 1, 2018 through March 31, 2019 from among only 3 companies – the Moldovan Energocom, the Moldavskaya power plant [in Transnistria, the Republic of Moldova’s largest energy producer] and the Ukrainian DTEK.

This is an exact repetition of the last-year contest, when out of 20 invited companies only these three accepted the proposal to participate in the tender.

Before the end of this week, the potential suppliers will receive proposals to present their offers in accordance with the established conditions and criteria.

According to the contest calendar, the offers will be received until March 7, while the final term of their assessment in March 12. The company plans to sign the contract not later than March 15, in order that next day to submit it for authentication in the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE).

As Infotag has already reported, Moldova produces only about 20-25% of the consumed energy from its own capacities. A year ago the tender was won by the Ukrainian company DTEK Trading, which undertook to supply to Moldova the lacking energy at a price of US$50.2 per 1 MWh on April 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018.

Though tender was conducted by domestic energy market operators Gas Natural Fenosa Furnizare Energie, RED Union Fenosa, Furnizare Energie Electrică Nord, Moldelectrica, RED Nord and RED Nord Vest, the contract with the Ukrainian supplier was signed by the Energocom state enterprise and the others were obliged to buy energy from it.

Despite the signing of the contract, in June Moldovan authorities signed an agreement with the Moldavskaya power plant, which belongs to the Russian RAO UES, at the proposal of President Igor Dodon. The Transnistrian plant proposed a price that was 0.05 US cents lower. As a result, it was decided that the station will supply 50% of electricity Moldova needs, while the Ukrainian supplier – 30%.
