WATER SUPPLIERS WILL HAVE TO CONCLUDE INDIVIDUAL CONTRACTS WITH CONSUMERS

23 february, 2018

Water suppliers and residents of multistory houses are obliged to conclude individual agreement on providing water supply services. Corresponding amendments to the Law on Public Water Supply and Sanitation Service were adopted by votes of 81 MPs on Thursday.

Author of amendments, Socialist MP Adrian Lebedinschi said that after the law enters into force, consumers have the right to address to the supplier and conclude individual agreements. The supplier, it its turn, will have the possibility to identify those who evade payment.

He said that the amendments are aimed at resolving the problem when the supplier was concluding contracts with municipal enterprises and lodgers' associations, while according to these agreements all the additional volumes of water on the total counter were distributed among tenants. As a result, consumers were obliged to pay for the water they did not consume.

Chairman of the parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Administration, Regional Development, Environment Protection and Climate Change Radu Mudreac of the PSRM said that there is another bill, which was merged with the Socialists' bill.

"Government's draft law is broader. It concerns the maintenance of water supply networks, the rules of water supplying not only for Chisinau and Balti, but also for other country localities, as well as many other issues", he said.
