MOLDOVAN EXPORTS TO GROW 20% – EXPERT-GRUP

26 april, 2018

The Moldovan goods’ exporting will grow 20% in 2018, while imports – 13.6% – maintain specialists of the Analytical Center Expert-Grup.

In the center’s research “MEGA: Economic Perspectives in Election Year” it is said that in 2017 the volume of exports to EU countries reached historical maximum, accounting for US$1.59 billion, while the share of the European Union in the total volume of exports accounted for 65.8%.

“Moldova also efficiently used the exporting quotas, provided by the EU. The quota on table grape and plums was covered by 100%, but the quotas on apples, tomatoes and grape juice was mastered only by 5%, 4% and 1%, respectively. The exports of wheat and ethylic alcohol exceeded the provided quotas 7.6-fold and 5.6-fold”, experts said.

According to them, due to such positive trends, the exports will keep growing in 2018. According to them, it should be mentioned that this growth may be called just a modest recovery of what was lost in crisis years.

“For the continuation of development on external markets, Moldova has to focus on fulfillment of the conditions of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, in particular, to achieve the providing of quotas on animal husbandry production and establish trade relations with partners outside the EU, first of all with China and Turkey. Also, in conditions of reciprocal EU and Russia sanctions, it is necessary to restrict the internal market from oversaturation with products, which compete with domestic producer”, experts say.
