MOLDOVAN FRUIT GROWERS MAY SUPPLY APPLES TO ISRAEL

03 may, 2018

Moldovan horticulturists will get the possibility to export apples to Israel after presenting documents about phytosanitary treatment of their orchards and the fruits.

According to the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA), a corresponding permit was granted by Israel partners together with the list of prohibited substances and pests.

Potential exporters should invite agency inspectors for phytosanitary inspecting of orchards in the period of vegetation and for visual checking of at least 2% of the exported goods. At drawing up phytosanitary certificate, the supplier has to specify that the place of production and the consignment of fruit were inspected and inspectors established absence of pests that represent phytosanitary danger for the importing country.

Each package of apples, designed for Israel, should have indicated the country of origin, the variety, the ANSA registration number and the phrase "Approved for Israel".

The agency warned potential suppliers that the identification of pests, indicated by the Israel phytosanitary service, in a consignment of apples will lead to returning of the entire consignment and renouncing the importing from the orchard where pests were identified.

Infotag's dossier: In 2017, Moldova harvested around 430 thousand tons of apples. The exports accounted for around 190 thousand tons, mostly to Russia.
