OVER 100 MOLDOVAN LOCALITIES TO GET US FINANCING FOR DEVELOPMENT

“My society” is the name of a program, launched by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Moldova on Monday. Due to it, over 100 localities of Moldova will be given the possibility to benefit from financial assistance worth US$20.5 million for development.

According to the Government, the funds are designed for improving the public services, modernizing the infrastructure and growth of revenues at the local level.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip said at the ceremony of program launching that it is very important both for local authorities and for citizens, who will feel its advantages. Already this year, citizens of 20 villages will be receiving more quality services, then – around 35 villages per year.

“A part of this assistance will go to infrastructure, concrete projects for population. The same concerns roads, kindergartens, schools, water supply system, sanitation system – everything that contributes to improvement of population living conditions”, the Premier said.

According to him, the implementation of the program will help local administrations become good managers and efficiently administrate public funds. Each infrastructural project may receive up to US$500 thousand.
