05 june, 2018

The Moldovan authorities are oriented to European integration and are counting on the United States’ backing on this path, particularly in questions of security, justice and economy, Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated during his Monday’s meeting with the United States Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Moldova, James D. Pettit.

The Premier informed the diplomat about the Government’s actions on fulfilling the country’s reform program, “including through the prism of meeting the conditions for receiving macro-financial assistance from the European Union”, the governmental press service reported.

According to its press release, Ambassador James Pettit assessed the Government’s efforts to realize reforms, whose advantages should be felt by Moldova citizens, and confirmed the United States’ support for realization of the Moldovan modernization program.

The interlocutors discussed the perspectives of strategic dialog between the Republic of Moldova and the United States, and development of cooperation between the two countries. While exchanging opinions on the Transnistrian conflict settlement progress, they welcomed the results of the ordinary round of the 5+2 format negotiations held in Rome last week.
