29 june, 2018

The world’s largest tobacco company Philip Morris International (PMI) will propose to Moldovan smokers a product that will be less harmful to their health.

In an interview to the “Logos-Press” Economic Review, Philip Morris Sales & Marketing SRL Administrator Denis Jogolev said that the company is adapting to its consumers, who are changing their habits.

“We understand smokers very well. Adults demand a product that would less injure their health, but give satisfaction and preserve the habitual ritual”, he said.

The manager told about a device for heating tobacco under the name IQOS.

“This is an electric system, which allows using tobacco sticks HEETS. At their heating to a certain temperature, an aerosol with nicotine is produced. Such an aerosol contains on average 90% less harmful and potentially harmful substances than the smoke of traditional cigarettes”, the administrator said.

According to him, the IQOS heating system is daily bought by around 10 thousand people across the world.

“Seven of 10 smokers, who begin using the IQOS, later completely renounce ordinary cigarettes and are exclusively or predominantly using IQOS”, the company administrator said, adding that PMI investments in innovative developments exceeded US$4.5 billion.

Today, the HEETS sticks became number-one brand among tobacco products in Japan, holding 15.2% of the market.

Denis Jogolev said that the IQOS will appear on the Moldovan market soon.

“Our company will provide technical assistance to all the IQOS consumers, regardless of whether the electric device was bought in Moldova or abroad”, said Philip Morris Sales & Marketing.
