DMITRY PATRUSHEV APPOINTED AS CO-CHAIRMAN OF MOLDOVA-RUSSIA INTER-GOVERNMENTAL COMMISSION FOR TRADE

17 july, 2018

Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev was appointed as new Co-Chairman of the Moldova-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Dmitry Patrushev, who was appointed as minister in the Dmitry Medvedev Government on May 18, 2018, will replace in this post former Russian Deputy premier Dmitry Rogozin, who was removed from the Government.

Sources in Moscow say that there will be no new appointment to the post of RussianВ President's Special Representative on Transnistria, which was also held by Rogozin before. Now, the development of relations with Moldova, including Transnistria will be the responsibility of Russian Deputy Premier Dmitry Kozak, who was appointed as Russian President's Special Representative for Trade and Economic Relations with Moldova last week.

On Monday, Moldovan President Igor Dodon met with Dmitry Kozak in Moscow. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.

"We discussed a wide spectrum of issues concerning the Moldova's internal and external policy, external economic connections between Moldova and Russia, as well as the Transnistrian settlement. I regard the appointment of Mr. Kozak as important for Moldova given the fact that the Russian Deputy Premier knows well the specificity of our country and the region in general", Dodon wrote.

The meeting was attended by Moldovan President Advisor for Transnistrian Settlement Vasile Shova, Moldovan Ambassador to Moscow Andrei Neguta, as well as Russian State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigori Karasin.
