AUTHORITIES WANT TO LEGALIZE STOLEN MONEY BY MEANS OF LEGISLATIVE INITIATIVES – LP

26 july, 2018

By means of legislative initiatives on introducing amendments to the tax system, the representatives of the authorities want to legalize the stolen money, stated Liberal Party Chairman Mihai Ghimpu to journalists in the Parliament on Thursday.

He said that three bills on amending the Tax Code and other laws were presented this week.

“These initiatives have positive moments as well, as for example the introduction of a single tax rate and its reduction to 12% from 18%. But there are proposals that raise questions. This is confirmed by the fact that draft laws were introduced in the agenda of the last parliamentary sittings. When the authorities have great interest, they always introduce bills in the agenda in the last moment”, Ghimpu said.

He reminded that this is not the first time when the authorities take the attempt to pilot through the Parliament a law on amnesty capitals and legalize the illegally-acquired funds.

“Development partners were against this law. Then, the authorities had to renounce this idea. Now, when the external financing was suspended, the authorities decided to come back to the idea to legalize the stolen money. It is absolutely obvious that not only Ilan Shor and Vlad Filat were involved in the stealing of the billion, but others were also. Had the authority representatives not been involved in this case, the money would have long been found and the case would have been transmitted to court”, the Liberals’ leader said.

According to him, the current authorities want to resolve their problems now and already after elections the new parliamentary majority will have to resolve the problems with resuming the external financing.

The Liberal regarded as pretended the resentments of PSRM deputies about the stealing of the billion from the banking system. He reminded that husband of Socialists’ leader Zinaida Grechanaya is one of beneficiaries of the non-repaid credits.

“They have to talk about this, to get rid of their colleagues who were involved in the bank fraud, but not to imitate protests. In 2015, they went to protest actions only because they were ordered so by Vlad Plahotniuc, who was afraid that the entire protesting electorate will go to the “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”] Party”, Ghimpu said.
