MINISTRY OF ECONOMY REPORTS ROAD REPAIR COMPLETION IN DUBASARI RAION

06 august, 2018

The Dubasari Raion has become the first raion, where the road repair has been completed within the Program “Good Roads for Moldova”.

According to press service of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, 11 km of roads have been repaired in the raion with a total cost of 27 million lei (US$1.6 million). Minister of Economy Chiril Gaburici chose to visit Cosnita, because last Thursday the final layer of asphalt was laid there on a road segment one kilometer long. He thanked the road workers, local authorities, representatives of State Road Administration for the work done and consolidated efforts for governmental program implementation.

“Our goal is to attract investors to the region, who will create jobs and promote development of Moldovan localities”, said Gaburici, urging the mayors to identify other road sections in need of repair to include them in the future plans.

The Minister also checked the completion of road repair works on the section of 1.1 km long in the neighboring village of Pirita.

As already reported by Infotag, the program “Good roads for Moldova” was launched at the beginning of this year on the initiative of the ruling Democratic Party. This year, the program provides for the rehabilitation of about 1,200 km of rural roads in 1,200 localities. It is planned to spend 1.6 billion lei from the Road Fund and the state budget for these purposes.

The opposition has criticized the project and described it as grabbing the Road Fund in the interests of the ruling party, and even in the election year.

Earlier, photos with thin layer of asphalt laid with technology violations, which will inevitably lead to its destruction, appeared in social networks. The photos show how Chiril Gaburici measures the asphalt thickness with his fingers. Since then, journalists began to joke that there is a new unit of measurement – “Gaburici finger”.

Infotag’s dossier: The Dubasari Raion is the smallest raion in Moldova, including only a few villages, since the main part of it, including the raion center, is located on the territory of Transnistria, which is not controlled by the Moldovan authorities.
