ECONOMY MINISTER STANDS FOR DIVERSIFICATION OF MOLDOVAN EXPORTS

13 august, 2018

Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici has spoken out for diversification of Moldovan exports.

In the course of the recent consultative meeting on export promotion, investment attraction and promotion of the country’s international image, Gaburici reminded that a range of measures aimed at achieving these goals have already been stipulated in the Republic of Moldova’s National Development Strategy 2020.

“If we want to augment our exports, we must concentrate on each country concerned, analyze the needs of its market and determine what products we can offer. At the same time, we need a structural diversification of our exports. All this should let us know precisely what we produce and where we export to, and know the markets where we can be competitive”, said the Minister.

Gaburici stressed that the Government and exporters should not concentrate on agriculture only, for “we should promote other economy segments where Moldova has potential for development, such as e.g. the light industry, the automobile sector and other. We want to create favorable conditions for contractors so that to give them the possibility to diversify their export goods, which should let us improve our trade balance and create well-paid jobs”.
