MOLDOVA AND SLOVAKIA INVIGORATING ECONOMIC COOPERATION

The possibilities of invigoration of economic cooperation and acceleration of trade were discussed on Thursday between Moldovan Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of Moldova, Dusan Dacho.

The Economy Minister positively appraised the two countries’ relationship in various spheres and expressed gratitude for the financial and technical assistance Slovakia renders to Moldova.

Gaburici briefed the diplomat on the Ministry’s priorities, in particular in the field of information technologies, energy security, the development of the business environment and of small and medium enterprises, road infrastructure, attraction of investments etc.

“We are interested to develop cooperation with Slovakia, to use its experience achieved in the energy efficiency sphere, in IT technologies and telecommunications. We are counting on our further cooperation in implementation of reforms in Moldova and in harmonizing the Moldovan legislation with European standards and norms”, said Chiril Gaburici.

Ambassador Dusan Dacho showed interest to the development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

According to the Moldovan Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, there are 20 enterprises with Slovak capitals totaling 6.37 million lei working in Moldova. In the first half of 2018, the trade turnover between the two countries approached US$26 million – up 79% against 1H2017.
