AIR MOLDOVA PRIVATIZATION WAS A RIGHT STEP - PREMIER FILIP

12 octomber, 2018

Prime Minister Pavel Filip gave spoke on television on Thursday evening about the Air Moldova company privatization.

"I am sure this was done within legal frames. We had to resolve this problem, as the company management left much to be desired, there were great problems", Filip said.

He added that the problems occurred earlier, when the company was a part of the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, headed by the Liberal Party representatives.

"Even being Prime Minister, I faced difficulties in accessing information about its economic activities. The then minister did not want to cooperate and provide these data. At the same time, colleagues were saying that the things go not very well in this company and I had to direct a financial inspection to the enterprise to get data that did not make me happy", the Premier said.

He expressed hope that after the company privatization, things will improve, the Air Moldova will be developing and providing high quality services.

Answering to questions, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers stressed that the new bank fraud, similar to the stealing of a billion from the banking system, will never recur due to the measures adopted by the Government.

"The banking system is very strong today. We have strengthened the National Bank and now such a fraud is just impossible to recur in Moldova. I know, many people were sentenced, I am sure everyone will answer for their violations, but this is the work of the prosecution service", the premier said.

Talking about the financial guarantees, provided by the Government to the National Bank, Filip expressed confidence that the Government has made steps for bank sector stabilization.

"Had we not transferred the guarantees into the public debt, we would have never get any grant that later proved be much larger than the sum transformed into state debt. Had we said that the sum of 600 million lei per year would not be transferred into state debt, this could mean that we are not getting grants worth almost 2 billion euros, which would mean that 2 billion were shouldered on citizens", Pavel Filip said.
