SWITZERLAND TO SUPPORT MOLDOVA IN SIGNING FREE TRADE AGREEMENT WITH EACT

Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi met with State Secretary of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Pascal Baeriswyll in Milan on Thursday on the margins of the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting.

According to the Moldovan ministry, Pascal Baeriswyll said that Switzerland will support the Moldova's signing of a free trade agreement with member countries of the European Free Association Trade (EACT) - Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

The Swiss diplomat expressed confidence that the strengthening of connections with EACT members will contribute to enhancement of mutually-profitable trade, the attraction of investments to the IT-sector, as well as the pharmaceutical and agricultural fields of Moldova.

The sides discussed the strengthening of the political dialog at the bilateral and multilateral levels, as well as the cooperation in the field of security and trade.

The head of the Moldovan diplomacy thanked Swiss representatives for the consistent support, provided to Moldova within the strategy of cooperation in key sectors.

"Projects, implemented with the support of the Swiss Confederation in healthcare, education and business development, contributes to the strengthening trust between residents of the two sides of the Dniester River", Ulianovschi said.
