MOST MOLDOVANS ARE PESSIMISTIC ABOUT REALIZED REFORMS - OPINION POLL

A majority of Moldova citizens presume that the reforms implemented heretofore do not promote the country's development, as per the findings of the opinion poll carried out by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova and presented in Chisinau.

According to them, only 8.9% respondents believe that the realized reforms have 'considerably promoted' the republic's development, 24.3% said 'promoted', 30.1% believe - 'did not have any serious influence on the development', 20.5% said the reforms were useless, and over 16% were uncertain.

Merely 0.7% respondents are 'fully satisfied' with the economic situation in the country, 8.5% -- 'on the whole - satisfied', 32.8% feel 'neither no, nor yes', 28.1% -- 'dissatisfied', and 26.5% are 'categorically discontented'.

1.5% interviewed citizens stated they currently live "much better" than 5 years ago, 11.9% said "better", 43.8% -- "same as before", 23.8% -- "worse", and 16.3% -- "much worse".

Over 27% respondents stated that their aggregate family incomes are not enough even for the most necessary things, 40.2% -- enough only for the most necessary expenditures, 24.1% -- enough for a decent living but without luxuries or excesses, 4.8% -- enough for buying even expensive things, and 1.5% said - enough for everything.

The opinion poll was carried out on November 28 through December 10 among 1195 adult residents of 81 various-type populated areas across the republic. The pollsters are saying the error should not be in the excess of В±3%.
