OFFICIAL STATISTICS CONFIRMS GOVERNMENT'S ACHIEVEMENTS - PREMIER

18 january, 2019

The achievements of the Government are confirmed by the official statistics despite groundless populist criticism, said Prime Minister Pavel Filip at the Thursday's press conference, presenting the report on the three-year activity of his Cabinet of Ministers.

He expressed confidence that the Government managed to achieve a real growth of population income by means of reforms, which made the labor remuneration system open and fair.

"Since December 1, salaries of all the public servants grew due to the reform of the labor remuneration system. None of them will be receiving less than 2 million lei anymore. Despite speculations, after the reform no salary will become smaller than before it. I hope that in January, when people will receive the money, all the speculations in this concern will cease", the premier said.

According to his calculations, salaries in the field of education grew 84% over three years (on average, to 7 thousand lei), in medicine - 83% (9 thousand lei to doctors), while the average economy salary grew 51% and will reach 7 thousand lei in 2019.

Filip also remembered the pension reform as well, which according to him allowed raising pensions 47% (against 2015).

"Pensions in Moldova are still very small, but we undertook measures for raising these. Since January 1 the payments for half-a-million of pensioners grew 10% [around 120 lei]. Also, a re-calculation of pensions for those who have worked and keep working after reaching retirement age has been launched. Given the indexation, pensions to some people will double", said the premier, who is running for the Parliament on the ruling Democratic Party tickets in-service.

Among other achievements, he pointed at the raising of allowances for schoolchildren catering, the social payments for victims of political repressions and allowances for young specialists, as well as cited other statistical data he has once presented at the end of last year in the Parliament.

Infotag's dossier: The Pavel Filip Government was approved by the Parliament on January 20, 2015 by votes of 57 of 101 MPs. The voting was accompanied by massive protests around the legislature building, due to which the new Cabinet members were forced to take their oaths late in the night literally under siege of indignant protesters.
