EVEN EX-DEPUTY PREMIERS ARE RUNNING FOR ANRE ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL

The parliamentary Standing Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance admitted nine candidates to contest for occupying three vacant positions of National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) Administrative Council Directors. Among candidates there are such high-ranked officials as ex-Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Octavian Calmic and ex-Deputy Premier for Reintegration Eugen Carpov of the European People's Party of Moldova.

Last week, the standing committee admitted nine candidates to the contest for occupying the posts of other two directors. Thus, there will be 16 candidates in this contest. One part of them run for two positions of directors, the other - for three positions. Svetlana Zapsa and Constantin Bragoi were admitted to both stages of the contest.

According to the legislation, ANRE directors are appointed by the Parliament for the following terms: one director for 6 years, two directors - for 4 years and 2 directors for 2 years. None of Administrative Council members has the right to occupy the post for more than 12 years.

The interviews with all candidates for 5 vacancies will take place on January 23.
